I fell at home on a Friday morning, over thin air and broke my arm .I had x-rays at SWAH and confirmed it was broken but looks ok. Monday morning the surgeon in Altnagelvin rang to say surgery was required and I should attend ward 25 by 5pm that day.
It turned out I had done some damage requiring screws and ligaments repaired, very sore indeed. Mr. McTaggart visited me on Tuesday morning to tell me about the damage and what his plan was for repair. Off I went for surgery which was a bit more complicated than predicted but the plan was readjusted and my arm was fixed.
Mr. McTaggart visited the following morning to inform me of the surgery he did and the follow up plans.
I've since had 1 outpatients appointment and a few more to do along with physio, all good.
The nursing staff on ward 25 are the most pleasant people I've ever met. There's Aisling who is super efficient and Emma who is super happy, both make you smile even with the painkillers! The night staff were all wonderful as were the folk delivering meals and the much appreciated tea and toast at night. Nothing too much bother for anyone and all jobs carried out with a smile.
I can't praise the staff enough, my care was exemplary. The only let down was I waited 7 hours for the pharmacy to process the tablets for discharge.
Overall Dr. McTaggart and ward 25 staff are wonderful, they work hard and deserve credit when it's due, with my thanks.
"My care was exemplary"
