"The genuine care made an incredible difference"

About: Maternity care / Midwife Led Unit

(as a service user),

I recently had the privilege of giving birth to my daughter at the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, and I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the exceptional team who supported me throughout the experience.

A special thank you goes to the wonderful midwife Gill and student midwife Eilidh.

Their guidance, reassurance, and genuine care made an incredible difference. I felt truly listened to, respected, and supported throughout the entire process.

Their attentiveness and warmth made me feel seen not just as a patient or a soon-to-be mother, but as a person — and that meant the world to me. Thanks to their calm and compassionate approach, the experience was relaxed and empowering.

I felt in control and confident every step of the way. We were truly honoured to have Eilidh be a part of our journey and to share in hers as she trains to become a fully qualified midwife. We wish her all the very best in her future career — she will be a credit to the profession. I would also like to thank Veronica, who performed my stitches. Her professionalism and light-hearted humour made a potentially uncomfortable situation feel safe and easy. Her skill and kindness helped me to relax and recover with confidence.

Finally, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire team at the Victoria Maternity Ward. Every member of staff was outstanding — their care, dedication, and compassion will never be forgotten. I will be forever grateful for the support I received during such a significant and life-changing moment.

Thank you for helping us become a family of three.

HI rhinocg66,

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter, Life has changed forever in the best possible way.

Thank you for graciousness in aiding Eilidh in her journey to becoming a midwife. It is so important and brave of women to let a student participate in their journey,. Labour is both an empowering and vulnerable experience and to share it and let it develop our future staff is so vital and for that I am so grateful.

I will share your words with all teams mentioned as it really does make their day. Veronica has now retired, and we miss her light hearted humour you so aptly described.

Thank you again

Pamela Higgins
