"I felt safe and supported"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital / Obstetrics (Maternity care) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

After a quick escalation in labour in early May, I required an ambulance to take me into Aberdeen maternity hospital.

The ambulance arrived in 10 minutes. Dan and Chris (Paramedics) were very professional and put me at ease, giving me the care I required and getting me to hospital in good time.

I was then transferred to the care of Kay, Angela and Rima (student midwife). I was fully dilated on arrival. I appreciated Kay asking consent for everything despite the rush of the situation - I felt safe and supported.

Rima was so encouraging during the birth, and small things after the birth such as adjusting my glasses were huge. She stayed with us until we were transferred to the postnatal ward, and we really appreciated that consistency.

Angela was also reassuring and supportive, and came to visit us the next day on the ward which was a lovely gesture.

Thanks to those mentioned above, we had a positive experience due to the care and support we received. Thank you.

Hi Ealg85,

I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to write in with such warm feedback about all the NHS staff who cared for you recently, especially when I'd imagine you have your hands full with a new baby to care for!

Our staff always really appreciate when patients get in touch to say thank you and your kind comments will mean a lot. It's great to see that you were so well cared for at every step of the journey.

All the very best and thanks again,

Mark

Hi Ealq85,

Firstly, please let me congratulate you on the birth of your baby and thank you for taking the time to get in touch.

It is wonderful to hear that you felt safe and supported and this will be fed back to Kay, Angela and Rima, who I know will be delighted to hear this.

Thanks again and may I wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Kind regards

Liz
