My sister attended ED in severe pain, while vomiting. She was extremely distressed and in severe pain. A nurse attended her bedside and told her she had to keep it down as there was other sick patients, to which my sister replied she was trying but she was in so much pain to which the nurse turned and left. When she was moved to another area, while still in severe pain and vomiting, another nurse approached my sister and told her she needed to calm down and stop making so much noise as there were children close by. My sister stated she was trying but she was in so much pain and no analgesia was working. The nurse stated they would see if she was able to have any analgesia and left.
We understand this is a busy and high stress area to work, but this complete disregard to her pain and needs was unacceptable and shows a massive lack of compassion and basic care.
