"Let down by service"

About: NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde / Podiatry Services

(as a parent/guardian),

My experience of this service has been appalling. I contacted the service to arrange an appointment for my child who was suffering from an infected ingrown toe nail. I was offered an appointment the following day on a telephone triage clinic but told I had to be available to take a call between the hours of 9am and 4pm. I expressed that I would be at my work between these hours so if I missed the call could I return the call as soon as possible and I was advised that I would not be able to call anyone back, I would only receive one call and if I didn’t answer it, a did not attend outcome would be recorded. As a working mother, I cannot believe that this is the approach our nhs services are taking towards working parents and families. To make matters worse, I asked to speak with a manager regarding my concerns and despite leaving messages and contacting the department, I have been ignored and received no response.

Dear Pareh67

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely regret that the service you received did not meet your expectations and that it caused frustration during what must have been a stressful time for you and your child.

The Podiatry Team have advised that patients are added to a triage list and the podiatrist works through the list of patients. As patients do not have a set appointment time, they would not record this as a ‘did not attend’ if they miss the call. If patients don’t answer they would endeavour to call back several times.

If you would like to discuss this further, can you please contact the Podiatry Team on 0141 531 6261.

Thank you

Nicole
