"I feel more assured again"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I was due for replacement knee surgery in early June, but was informed 5 days before the scheduled date that it had been cancelled. My initial reaction was anger and frustration but on second thoughts, when I calmed down, I realised the reasons for cancelling was because of trauma.

I kept my booked pre-surgery appointment with Dr Garner, who explained the reasons why my op was cancelled and reassured me I was still near the top of the list. Dr Garner throughout as been brilliant.

I feel more assured again.

Hi there,

I am sorry your appointment got re scheduled.

I work as Clinical Nurse Manager on the Admission ward for Orthopaedics.

We sadly often have to reorganise as people are in hospital after falls with broken limbs that need surgery. Its sad for all. The injured people need urgent care and are in pain.

We also appreciate people waiting are suffering and in pain too.

Thanks for your understanding on this occasion.

I am sure we will meet when you come in to us. Hopefully it will be soon.

Thanks Wendy
