"62 weeks before treatment"

About: Stonehouse Hospital University Hospital Wishaw / Outpatients Physiotherapy University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I was in the hospital for 10 weeks following a bad fall where I broke a bone in my thigh.  The care there was not very good to be honest (Wishaw and then Stonehouse)  but on discharge and the follow up care plan well everything went wrong.  Everyone seemed to blame everyone else.  I was supposed to receive physiotherapy within a couple of weeks but ended up waiting 62 weeks for the sessions to start. Once they did, the physios were brilliant, they got me walking again.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am really sorry to hear about the challenges you faced following your injury particularly about your delay in receiving Physiotherapy. It is clear this was a difficult and frustrating time.

While I am really pleased to hear that the Physiotherapy you received at home has helped get you walking again, I am concerned about the long wait and the confusion that you describe as this is not the standard of care that we aim for.

Your feedback is really important and I would like to understand more about your journey so that we can learn from this and improve our service for the future..

If you are able I would appreciate if you could contact our Patient Affairs Team who can listen in more detail and ensure your experience is looked into properly. You can reach them at
