"No follow up support"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / General surgery Lincoln County Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Having sustained a fracture on my left ankle I was put in a cast for two weeks.  After removal I have received no support at all.  I have attended 3 times for surgery, the last time being 9am in a morning to wait for ages to be told the surgery is cancelled.  I am currently wearing a surgical boot.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and I’m very sorry to hear about the difficulties you’ve faced following your ankle fracture. It must be incredibly frustrating to have attended for surgery multiple times—especially arriving early in the morning—only to have it cancelled, with no clear support or communication in between. That kind of uncertainty can really take a toll, both physically and emotionally.

It’s concerning to hear that you’ve received little to no follow-up support after your cast was removed, and that you’re now left managing with a surgical boot without clear guidance. We will raise this with the relevant team to understand what went wrong and how support can be improved for patients in similar situations. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.
