"Amazing care and compassion around a hard time"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Accidents & Emergency

(as a relative),

My aunt was admitted to Antrim ED late one day early June. Unwell for 4 days, normally active and well. In ED she received a terminal diagnosis and unfortunately passed away the following day. This was extremely sudden and a great shock to the family. Getting that bad news is never easy and in an ED setting in the middle of resus I imagined it to be much worse. However the care, compassion from the medics, Orla and Drew was amazing. Despite being so busy the nursing staff were also great unfortunately I do not recall the names of those at night as I was getting so much information at that stage, but Caitlin who took over for day shift was exceptional.

Dear indusns94 please accept my condolences on the death of your aunt and thank you for taking the time to provide feedback to the team at this difficult time.

I am glad the team were able to offer your aunt and family the kindness and compassion everyone deserves at the end of their life. I will pass on your kind words and I hope you look after yourself in these difficult days to come
