"E-consult"

About: Dr Stephenson & Partners

The practice has recently changed the procedure of how to book an appointment with a GP by means of e-consult only. This morning I quickly completed an e-consult at 8am whilst quickly getting ready for work and my daughter sorted for school. I start work at 9am and don't finish til 2pm so I only have a short period of time to complete this. The e-consult asked how I wanted to be contacted and I requested a text message as i can't answer my phone at work. When I finished work I had 2 missed calls/answer phone messages from the surgery asking me to contact yourselves to make an appointment. I phoned the surgery and was 5th in the queue and didn't have time to wait, so I phoned back an hour later when I had time. I was 3rd in the queue...after being on hold for approx 12 minutes I was then given the chance for a call back when it was my turn. A few minutes later I got a call back and was able to make my appointment. The reason for me getting in touch is to explain what a hassle it is to make an appointment. If I'd been able to phone at 8am, I would've probably spoken to a member of the reception staff before 830am (even if I'd requested a call back) and my appointment would've been made. Instead a member of staff has twice unsuccessfully contacted me then I've had to phone back and speak to someone else...surely this way of making an appointment is more time consuming for your staff and patients? Thanks for taking the time to read my review.
