"I knew our baby was safe and looked after"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Neonatal Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

I recently had an emergency c section in Craigavon area hospital nine weeks early due to me having euro sepsis, pneumonia and kidney complications. This was all was very shocking and hard for me and my partner to wrap our heads around.

I had got my operation,  having a baby boy. I was out in a coma for the night and was asleep through having our baby, so I had not seen him until the morning after. Our baby was in an incubator in the neonatal unit.

I am extremely grateful for everything the nurses did for him in the unit and for me and my partner, they made us feel welcome and helped us understand what was happening with our baby and I knew he was safe and looked after. They have done a lot for us and I was extremely lucky he was there for the time he was.

Good afternoon pilingsbm36

Thank you for sharing your neonatal story. As a family you had many things to process in relation to your premature delivery and all the worry that came with that, not just about your little boys health but also in relation to your own experience.

Thank you for expressing your gratitude for the care your received. We hope everything is going well and you are enjoying watching your baby boy grow and develop

Regards

Una Toland
