"Daughter's day surgery"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Day Surgery Crosshouse Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter recently had an operation at Crosshouse Hospital day surgery. As she is only 9, she was looked after (and us) by the wonderful paediatric team.

This had been an ongoing issue with a lesion on her face for 2 years and the nurses, play leader, doctors and lovely anaesthetists could not have made it any more smoother for her. They listened to her worries and made the whole process least traumatising as could be.

A plan was devised prior to surgery and this was communicated by the consultant prior to her operation. That shows great communication and inclusivity!!

My daughter was put at ease by the play leader and nurses prior and after. Kela, student nurse went above and beyond for my daughter. As did all the team! So much so that her experience has been a positive one.

We need more positive stories and feedback about the NHS! Thanks so much 🤍

Dear LT371

Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to write to us following what must have been a stressfu time for you and your daughter.

I am delighted to hera that she found her surgery and all care before and after supportive of her needs but ultimately reassuring. Surgery can be a scary time for both parents and children alike and ensuring we include everyone in care planning and supporting worries is our priority.

The teams you mention will be delighted to recieve your feedback which I will pass on today.

I wish you and your family the best of ongoing health for the future

Kind regards

Attica
