"The fantastic care and compasion of NHS Scotland"

We moved to Scotland in September 2022. We got registered with St Margrets health centre in Auchterarder, and a dentist within a week.

I went to see a doctor there in January 2025 as I had a few concerns, I was getting out of breath when walking up hills and had a lump on my Jaw.

I saw Doctor Jack, who listened to my concerns and did a physical examination.

With in a few days he organised full blood works a chest x ray and an appointment with an ENT Consultant/surgeon at Perth hospital, where I met Doctor Youssef and his team -  Elaine and Bridget.

I was greeted with warm smiles compassion and professionalism.

Doctor Youssef examined the lump on my Jaw and explained that it needed to be removed as soon as possible.

Doctor Youssef quickly arranged an ultrasound a biopsy and an MRI scan.

He then arranged an operation to remove the tumour at Ninewells hospital in Dundee.

I was very nervous and worried.

Doctor Youssef came to speak to me and other patients who he was going to operate on that day.

He explained to me that he was going to leave me to last as it could take quite a long time because of the risk of facial nerve damage which I was already aware off after looking on the internet.

Doctor Youssef, his team and the three anaesthetists all explained exactly what was going to happen and did there best to make me feel at ease.

The operation took four hours.

As soon as I was awake Doctor Youssef came to speak to me and reassure me that they had managed to remove all of the tumour.

Three weeks later I received a call from the hospital to say that the tumour was benign, I was so relieved.

I would like to thank all the staff from the receptionist,  the nurses the anaesthetic team and of course Doctor Youssef for doing a wonderful job with genuine compassion and professionalism at both Perth and Ninewells hospital.

I can now look forward to enjoying my retirement.
