"My overall experience was excellent"

About: Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I gave birth to my second son at the birthing suite within the IRH. I cannot speak highly enough of the team of midwives that helped me through the whole experience.

My decision to give birth there was very last minute but the midwives were supportive and accommodating.

I arrived at the birthing suite at 2:30pm and despite not feeling much pain the midwife gave me an exam and agreed that it would be better for me to stay. During my time in the suite I was able to use the facilities available like the pool and was able to walk around and find positions that were comfortable for me.

My son was born at 23:47, we were given time to bond with him without interruption then moved to a room for the night before having a check up in the morning and being allowed home.

My overall experience of the IRH birthing suite and midwife team was excellent and I'm glad I made the decision to have my son there.
