"Poor aftercare"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Ward C2 Maternity care

(as a service user),

I’m feel traumatised after the poor care from staff I saw. I had a complication from c section (which itself had plenty of problems), and had to be readmitted to Antrim hospital after being discharged. I was promised a lot of help and care with my baby overnight but instead was met with very uncaring staff who did not want to help me. I was tutted at, I was left for hours without anybody coming to my bay, I was getting bloods taken during the night, they offered to take my baby for a while to let me get some sleep as I had not slept in 5 days, only for him to be sent back to me and told that they can’t look after my baby all night. I’ve lever felt so traumatised and let down by a maternity unit.

I am very sorry to read of the care you received in our postnatal ward. We strive to provide excellent care for all our women accessing maternity services. Due to the anonymous nature of this platform, I do not have your personal details to investigate further.

If you feel it would be of benefit to you, I would be very keen to have further discussions with you and support you in any way I can.
