"A bright future for student social worker"

At the beginning of the year through no fault of my own my family had been referred to social services (Magherafelt Branch). Without experience of this I was naturally very apprehensive as I am aware of the reputation that social workers have, well I could not have been more wrong. We were allocated student social worker Ellie. From the very first phone call it was clear that this was a career that Ellie was so passionate about and that she only wanted what was best for me and my children.

Before Ellie finished her placement we had several visits from her, each visit went brilliant and all three of my children really enjoyed seeing Ellie coming. She has a natural way about her for the job in hand, any concerns I had were managed in a very quick and professional manner, by the end of it, it felt like a friend visiting rather than one of these individuals who have such a bad reputation.

Nothing was ever too much bother for Ellie and she has put all my fears aside in terms of having social involvement. I am sad to see Ellie go but I am so excited for her and the bright future that she has ahead, any family that is allocated Ellie will be very lucky. It was a privilege to be part of her journey as a student social worker.
