"they cared"

About: Outpatients Services / Children’s Eye Multi-Disciplinary Clinic

(as a parent/guardian),

We attended our orthoptics appointment in late May.  My son had previously been diagnosed with optic nerve head drussen. Our ophthalmologist was so professional and helpful. She really cared. She noticed optic disc oedema. Within the week he had received a mri head scan and lumbar puncture at CAH.

Our ophthalmologist phoned on the Friday of that week to check on how my son was. It all felt like a nightmare, in between appointments I had convinced myself it wasn't real, it wasn't happening. It was scary but having the great team of specialists really helped. They all spoke to me with care, they cared about my son enough to look after him almost like they probably would have with their own.

Dear Paula01648,

Thank you very much for taking the time to tell us about your recent experience with the Children's Eye Service. It can be such a difficult time for parents when their child is unwell and undergoing testing. Anything that we can do to make the journey less stressful is always a priority. I will be sure to pass on your kind words to the rest of the Children's Eye Service.

Kindest regards, Linda Hamilton

(Assistant Service Manager for Children's Eye Service).
