"Staff have been amazing"

About: Yeovil District Hospital / Accident and emergency Yeovil District Hospital / Clinical haematology Yeovil District Hospital / Intense Care Unit

(as the patient),

I have a history of DVTs, although none for several years. I take a daily low dose aspirin to combat this. I was feeling a bit breathless and went to see the GP, he took some bloods which revealed an issue with blood clotting. He gave me an appointment at the hospital clinic the following day. I felt breathless during the night and my portable oxygen meter showed that my saturation level had fallen into 88%. My wife took me to A&E where I was given pulmonary CT scan. This revealed a massive bilateral PE. I was thrombolysed and then sent to ITU. I spent 24 hours in ITU, and then transferred to ward 9A (respiratory)

I have been on the ward for a week was receiving treatment and having further tests carried out. The medical and ancillary staff have been amazing. The food has also been incredible.
