"Admission to hospital"

About: Borders General Hospital / Accident & Emergency Borders General Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as a parent/guardian),

My teenage son was discharged after a week in the BGH and we wanted to thank everyone for the excellent care they have given him. He was initially admitted to Accident and emergency then Blue ED, MAU and then a final night in BSU.

Everyone involved in his care including porters, nurses, doctors, HCSW's, physio and domestics have been kind, caring and compassionate throughout his stay. They have been sensitive to his needs as a teenager in an adult ward and have been reassuring whilst sharing lighthearted stories and banter to cheer him up.

There's too many people to thank individually but he would like to thank Dr Fletcher and Gayle from GI team for their care and support, Ronnie from outreach (whose reassurance was very appreciated), Charlene in ED for sharing her advice, Carlos in MAU for his football chat, Helen (MAU) for taking the time to write everything down for us and the HCSW in MAU who called to update me on how my son was when we were concerned.

In a time where staffing and beds are short, the care and kindness he received could not be faulted and for that we are very grateful.

Good afternoon Mum of a Teenager,

I am sorry to hear that your son spent a week in hospital, I hope he is recovering well.

I am pleased to read that He and yourself received such great person centred care in ED, MAU and BSU. I will pass on your amazing words to the team.
