"Cannot thank all the staff enough"

About: Maternity Care / AMU (Alongside Midwifery Unit) Maternity Care / Labour Ward Maternity Care / Maternity Triage Maternity Care / Postnatal (Ward 22)

(as a service user),

I recently gave birth at UHW. I cannot thank the staff across the maternity unit enough for all of the care I received. I firstly went to triage and was seen by Ruth, who made me feel completely at ease thanks to her bubbly nature. Ruth assessed me and explained all of my options clearly to my partner and I and helped us decide what to do next which we were very thankful for. I was shown to AMU and handed over to Charlie.

Charlie looked after me through my labour and birth and I am so thankful to have been cared for by her, she made the entire experience so positive and one I feel very grateful for! She was calm and really helped talk me through when things progressed. Emma was caring for me during tea breaks. Emma also kept the whole experience really calm and positive and helped me stay distracted during my contractions.

I was moved to the postnatal ward and all of the staff who I seen were really helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. In particular, Gayle who helped me with breastfeeding support and really took a lot of time to explain and offer advice when I was establishing breastfeeding.

Natalie, Laura and Larisa were all really helpful during our stay!

Dear Ch2710,

Thank you for sharing your experience in the Maternity Department.

Congratulations on your new baby!

I am delighted to hear that Ruth gave you clear explanations so you could make an informed choice about your birth and I am pleased that this excellent care continued with Charlie and Emma who supported you during the labour and birth. It must have made such a different to have such a calm and positive atmosphere brought by these two midwives. I am very happy that you also received support with breastfeeding from Gayle.

I will ensure that your kind words are passed on to the whole team who I am sure will get a real boost hearing such lovely feedback about their colleagues.

I hope you are all settling in well as a family.

Best Wishes,

Jenni
