"Treatment after a fall"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

I had a fall out of my shower, I couldn't move or get myself up, I was taken to RCHT as I take blood thinners & there could have been a head bleed. I had a large bump on my head, had also hurt my neck & lower back.

The team in A & E were first class despite being very busy. I had all sorts of tests & xrays & was very well looked after, I was sorry I took up so much time as I was there for a day. They work so hard & were kind & compassionate in dealing with me, I can't thank them all enough.

I work in the Emergency Department as a Sister. I support a team of nurses and doctors in delivering emergency care. I co-manage performance and conduct with the ED senior team in line with local and national policies. I believe that maintaining contact post attendance with our services users is really beneficial. Gaining your valuable feedback can help us create changes so we can deliver the best service we can.

Dear Mullion Lady

I am sorry to hear you suffered a fall and had to use our services on such a busy day. I hope you are at home and continuing to recover from your head injury.

I am pleased that you received compassionate first class care, despite how busy the department was. Please never apologise for using our time, we are glad we are there to help the community when they experience some of their worst events in life.

I will pass on your thanks to the team.

Kind regards

Robyn Jones

Sister, Emergency Department
