"Grateful for the care me and my baby received"

About: Maternity care (wards 68, 72 &73) / Labour suite The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Maternity care (wards 68, 72 &73)

(as a service user),

I had been due to have my section at the QEUH but a space opened up at the Princess Royal which I was happy to accept. Everyone was so helpful and reassuring, from my initial phone call to discharge. Although I knew it was the right method of delivery for me I was still very anxious, however midwives and all the other medical staff involved went above and beyond to calm my nerves.

The procedure went really well and everyone communicated with me and my partner throughout, and the birth of our son felt really special. Midwives were really helpful on the recovery wards as we learned how to care for our baby, and they made sure he and I recovered well.

The ward was quite noisy overnight with other mums having various health problems etc and you could tell the midwives were very busy however I had no complaints about my care. The disrupted night was acknowledged by midwives in the morning who worked to get me discharged asap. Having your first baby can be a daunting experience but I am really grateful for the care me and my baby received.
