"My care has been very disappointing"

About: Maternity care / Labour suite maternity

(as a service user),

I was told to be induced due to having a bigger baby. This process started 10 days before my due date, I was 1 day from my due date and no further forward.

Started my balloon induction and it fell out 16 hours later and two days later was still awaiting to be taken down to labour ward for my waters to be broken.

The communication has been awful, one midwife says one thing and another says something else.

I got told by one midwife I was not a priority and never will be priority as my waters haven’t broken.

I have now spoke to a doctor and the hospital coordinator about how my care and time in the hospital has been. We were made to believe induction would be straight forward and a quick hospital visit. I had spent 110 hours (4.5 days) in hospital with little to no progress.

My care has been very disappointing, distressful and very lacking from where I am standing. I had my first child in Glasgow and my care was amazing this is why I chose to have my second child up here but I regret this as my hospital of choice this time around because of the stress, mentally, physically and emotionally I’ve been put through unnecessarily.

This is a very brief version of events that I have experienced over the recent 5 days. I have everything down to times and what care I’ve been given written due to my very poor experience and level of care.

Dear Turbomum

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with us. We are very sorry to hear that your induction process was distressing and that your care did not meet the standard you expected—or that we strive to provide.

We understand how important it is for expectant parents to feel informed, supported, and safe during such a significant time. We are sorry that this experience has caused you emotional, physical, and mental distress, and that it has led you to regret your choice of hospital for your second birth.

Please be assured that your feedback will be discussed with the staff to ensure that we reflect and learn from your experience, to help us improve our service.

We are very sorry for the distress you have experienced.

Kind Regards

Nicole
