My son injured his little finger whilst playing. It was very swollen and bruised and causing him a lot of distress. I took him to get it checked, mostly for his own peace of mind. The nurses in triage were helpful and thorough. We waited a long time to see the Doctor in 'See and Treat'. We had barely got in the room when they bent my sons fingers back and forth with great haste and said it's not broken and just stared at us. I asked them what we could do to help it and they just said there was nothing. That was the extent of the information and advice provided.
We then left and my son was so upset because of the pain it had caused him. He said he was too scared to cry in there incase they did it again. I don't think a child should be left feeling so upset after seeing a doctor. I also don't have any faith in the doctors diagnosis and will likely get a second opinion. I felt hugely let down by their lack of care and compassion, especially whilst dealing with a nervous child.
