"Made it feel like a walk in the park"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Combined Assessment Unit (CAU) University Hospital Ayr / Day Surgery University Hospital Ayr / Urology

(as a service user),

Having being diagnosed with a kidney stone mid-January 2025, when I had attended the CAU to more recently when I had a stent placement and follow up lithotripsy via day surgery, the care, kindness and compassion from every member of staff I’ve encountered along the way has been first-class and really a credit to themselves, their teams and the NHS more widely.

The whole situation had me filled with dread and stress at times but on every encounter the staff were always reassuring and comforting.

Whilst I hope to never have a kidney stone again(!) I know that I’m in incredibly safe hands should that be the case.

A special mention and thanks to Mr Small, his secretary Lauren, Molly the consultant anaesthetist, Fiona in day surgery and all the theatre staff. You all made what was in my mind a very frightening ordeal feel like a walk in the park!

Good afternoon deltagj63

Thank you very much for your lovely words. I shall ensure that all the staff within CAU and personally mentions staff get to see your comments.

Kind regards
