"It wasn’t possible to comfortably feed"

About: Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Castle Mey Ward

(as a service user),

I was really impressed with the ward (castle may). The nursing staff were friendly and helpful, and having a private room was fantastic given that my baby doesn’t feed as well if there’s too much noise and stimuli.

My only negative feedback is about the lack of suitable space in the room to breast feed. It wasn’t possible to comfortably feed. This was an issue for us because we had been admitted due to low weight and we were receiving breast feeding support during our stay.

Having some nursing chairs available that could be moved around as and when they are needed could be really helpful for people in a position like mine.

Dear capellart89,

Thank you for sharing your story with us regarding the Castle Mey ward.

I am sorry that your baby had to be admitted due to low weight, but I am glad that you found the nursing staff so friendly on the ward and that you were also accommodated in a private room.

With regards to the suitability of the space and the lack of available nursing chairs for feeding, I have shared your feedback with the management team for this area so they can look into the possibility of having these available. Thank you for your suggestion as this can help to improve the experience for anyone using the ward.

I hope your little one is continuing to improve,

Claire
