"Friendly, informative and made me feel at ease"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Womens Health Unit

(as a service user),

I first self referred using the Women’s Health Unit self-referral line.

I was extremely nervous and anxious to call as was worried i would be judged for my choice. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

All staff i encountered during the process were friendly, informative and made me feel at ease. The process was clear, smooth & and an appointment was made for me quickly to be seen which was very reassuring during what felt like such a worrying time.

The staff i spoke to over the phone & at my appointment in person were so kind, empathetic and helpful. They were fully informative on the procedure and understanding. At no point was i made to feel judged or ashamed for my choice. I left feeling confident i fully understood the procedure and that i could contact the unit if i required any assistance.

I contacted the unit with a query after the procedure and the advice i got put me at ease. Although it was not a situation i would have wanted to find myself in, the care of the staff and being able to do the procedure at home truly made it as comfortable as possible.

I hope all of the staff should be proud as they truly delivered on women’s care. I am so grateful for their help and the NHS for providing this service.
