"I have grown on so many levels as a person"

About: Mental Health and Addiction Services / South Ayrshire Community Mental Health Team University Hospital Ayr / General Psychiatry (Mental Health)

(as a service user),

Having lived with bipolar since July 2022, I have grown in so many levels as a person.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran is a wonderful organisation to be a patient in.

In late 2024 Dr Nuti took over my care and things in terms of my mental health changed. He listens to my concerns with great attention. He allows my mother and one of my wonderful siblings to attend any of appointments.

Dr Samuel then took over my care in early 2025 on an outpatient basis. The newly qualified community psychiatric nurse in NHS Ayrshire and Arran then took over as well as Fiona (can’t remember her second name) on an outpatient basis.

Julie and John from the crisis team visited me recently and were also extremely knowledgeable about my condition.

I am very calm and learning to slow down everyday. I am very happy and content with my life and I do love myself. I feel the need to share a little part of my story. My ten year plan is to write a book and by goodness this first chapter has already been started.

Dr Withers based in Kilmarnock (clinical psychologist) also continues to support me.

I will continue to raise awareness for mental health “quite literally” as long as I live.

Thank you for taking the time to share your journey. It’s wonderful to hear how supportive your care team has been and how much progress you’ve made. I will make sure your kind comments are passed on to the care team. Wishing you all the best with your book and continued advocacy.
