"Such a positive birth experience"

About: Borders General Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I live in Edinburgh and was sent to the Borders General Hospital maternity unit (about 1h 30 away) to check me during labour and to deliver my baby.

All three nearer hospitals were on divert and could not admit me, including the one at which I expected to give birth (which is 15 mins from my home). Despite the stressful diversion and journey, from the moment I arrived to the moment we left, we received excellent care.

The midwives explained everything that was going on, all my options, were kind, empathetic and patient, and the best part was that I had the same midwife through each shift. This is unlike when I had my first child at a nearer hospital which was much busier so I pretty much had a different midwife talk to me every time I needed to interact with one.

Nikki, Nicole and Nicola were great and made me feel like the trek was worth it. Such a positive birth experience, thank you!

Good Afternoon francesca673,

Congratulations on your the arrival of your baby!

I hope you are settled into life with a new baby.

Thank you for your lovely feedback, despite a stressful start with your transfer to the Borders, your experience ended in a very positive way.

I will pass on your kind words to Nikki, Nicole and Nicola

Kind Regards
