"I have psoriasis arthritis"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Rheumatology

(as the patient),

I have had this for years now. I was on a medication but was taken off it as it was damaging my liver. The consultant at Hairmyres said that I would be put on a bio drug instead but this was weeks ago and I’m still waiting for a prescription to start this treatment and any relevant info. I’m in so much pain now as I have nothing to treat this condition. I went to the hospital at rheumatology and was given a steroid injection to reduce the inflammation. The nurse told me that the consultant had stated I needed to go on a bio treatment but not stated which one. It’s a week now and even the nurses who have been great have seemingly had no communication. I have called a few times this week but still no medication put in place. I have now had to buy a walking stick as I am struggling to walk with all the inflammation in my feet. I cannot go on much more with this pain. I can’t live on pain killers. I can’t understand why my replacement treatment has not been put in place even though I’ve been off the original medication for 2 months.

Dear Lesley1951,

Thank you for sharing your experience of University Hospital Hairmyres.

I am sorry to hear about the delay in getting your new prescription for the replacement medication. This must be very frustrating for you. I can only imagine how much so given the pain you are in and that the nurses have not been given the information so they can help you.

Please can I ask that you contact our Patient Affairs team so they can investigate this and provide a personal response?

Best Wishes,

Jenni
