After having some initial struggles with breastfeeding, my health visitor suggested going to the local support group in Lurgan. I’ve found this group to be fantastic not only for providing peer support for babies of a similar age, but because it has a specialist Health Visitor called Nicol who attends and is so knowledgeable about all things breastfeeding! It’s great to be able to have her ongoing support as the babies grow and feeding habits change. Especially as you tend to see your own health visitor less often after the first few months. She has also organised weaning sessions, first aid training and more for the group which are so helpful as a first time mum! The group is a charity/community based organisation so to have the support of Nicol in her capacity as a health visitor is invaluable.
