"I could not have been successful without her"

About: Children and Young People Services / Health Visiting

(as a service user),

Since having my first baby 2 years ago and now my 2nd 7 months ago I have built up an amazing rapport with Health Visitor Nicol who supports breastfeeding mothers at lurgan Birthwise breastfeeding group.

She has supported me through a multitude of breastfeeding issues during both feeding journeys. I have never met anyone so experienced or passionate about breastfeeding, she is so approachable and kind. She always made me feel comfortable talking to her and during a particularly hard time with my most recent baby she was the person I needed to see each week at group for my mental health and reassurance also.

I could not have been successful without her. When she is not in the group it feels like the support network is just not the same, on the days I struggle or have a particular breastfeeding question I know she is the one to ask. I notice other people in the group asking for her when she isn’t there.

Her assessment and verbal support on positioning and latch is the best support I have ever received and many of my mum friends feel the same.

She really is an essential support to our group and we need her every single week we meet.

Dear Virgomy99,

Many thanks for taking the time to write such glowing feedback on your experience of Nicol, one of our health visitors at your breastfeeding support group. It is great to hear how knowledgeable, supportive and helpful Nicol has been for you. We know how passionate she is in relation to breast feeding, however unfortunately it isn't possible for Nicol to be there every week, as her role within our service has changed.

I will ensure Nicol is aware of your lovely care opinion - she will be delighted.

Many Thanks Marie Doran
