"Lack of medical knowledge around pediatric "

About: Tower House Practice

Staff are nice enough but just don't seem to keep updated on knowledge. Was advised to give up dairy to test Cmpa months ago but no advice to take supplements to ensure no calcium deficiency and no check in since despite being there multiple times since. Lack of knowledge when looking at lump on babies head- just constantly get told they aren't sure with things.

Worst thing was when I went this week after testing solids for allergens and having slight concern over possible wheat allergy (they diagnosed viral). I was seen by a female doctor and two medical students. The female doctor said I shouldn't be weaning my baby on same food as me (baby led weaning) when tried to explain Blw to her and that there is Nhs guidance on finger foods for six months she said no and to give baby rice instead which has zero nutritional value. I said this to her and she said it's not about nutrition it's about not being a choking hazard and for practice. I gave up at this point to discuss further as she was very adamant and knew nothing of Blw or current Nhs guidance ( I know main source of nutrition isn't from solids but why bother giving my baby something that isn't advised on anymore) also then the student doctor suggested I put honey on my six months old dummy to encourage to use it again. They were lovely but this is such dangerous advice to new mum's who may not know better but again Nhs says no honey before one due to risk of botulism. Staff need retraining in pediatrics
