"Wonderful treatment"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Minor Injuries Unit Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Trauma and Orthopaedics

(as a relative),

Towards the end of May, I received a call from my wife who'd been out running. Had a fall and had broken her arm. Drove out and got her. Called nhs 111 number, they went through details etc and said we should go to minor injuries at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

When arrived, triage were great and when they saw the severity of her arm, we were directed to a seat and quickly taken to a room to be checked, the Nurse/Doctor couldn't have been more empathetic and professional, then a quick x-ray.

Afterwards we were taken to the hub beside resuscitation, where everything was organised for a small operation to align the bones before the full operation planned for the following day. Everything was explained as to what was happening and both the Doctor and consultant couldn't have been nicer nor more reassuring. Once this was completed, she was moved up to ward 209.

We cannot thank the nurses enough for their incredible care. Things did go wrong as an elderly lady with dementia had a terrible night, the nurses etc did everything they could to remedy the situation. Following day the operation happened, all went well and to plan - only improvement could have been knowing visitors can't get access for a couple of hours due to patients being monitored after surgery.

After the surgery, we were told we could get out and expected it to be much earlier than we were released, to be fair the Doctors were busy for doing the sign out and the Nurses never seemed to get a break.

Overall I just personally want to say a massive thank you to everyone, as I know there is often criticism and sometimes justifiably so. However I would like it to be fed back to the Doctors, Surgeons and Ward 209 how truly grateful I am for my wife's wonderful treatment.

Thank you for sharing your wife's experiences with us whilst she was a patient in ward 209. Indeed it is reassuring to hear all went well post operatively and I hope your wife continues to make a good recovery. I will pass on your appreciation and comments to the ward team.

Kind regards

Claire
