"The care she has received has been quite incredible"

About: Bellfield Centre / Wallace Suite Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Accident & emergency

(as a relative),

My relative is over 90 years old and is now in Wallace Suite , Stirling Community hospital , she is having end of life / palliative care .

The care she has received has been quite incredible . All nursing staff , support staff and student nurses have been gentle , conscientious, professional and so thoughtful . Always talking to her when she is being moved and changed , always considering if she is lying in the best position with careful consideration for her comfort and dignity and careful management of pain relief medication .

Our daughter who is very close to her granny , noticed immediately that someone had given her granny a manicure and nail varnish , such a thoughtful thing to do .

As a family we have always been able to talk to someone if we have needed to ask or share anything .We have never felt like a nuisance , always reassured by the care and nurture she has had and staff have always listened and responded to any wee comments / observations we have made .

We know how poorly funded the NHS is and how busy nursing staff are but wonder is there an ethos of care at the heart of her hospital experience which has been lost at some other parts of her medical journey.

We know how incredibly busy A and E is but she sat for hours and hours in very uncomfortable circumstances waiting for a brain scan following a fall prior to her recent decline . No one there considering the comfort of a frail elderly person. ( this was an experience at A and E Forth Valley )

We don't want to dwell on those past negatives but do think that the ethos if care and dignity she is currently experiencing is exemplary, and perhaps other parts of the service in Forth valley and beyond could learn from this?

Thank you to all the staff in Wallace Suite , Stirling Community Hospital .
