"I am battling to get my eye injection"

About: Mater Hospital / Macular Unit

(as the patient),

Once again , despite a clear treatment plan agreed with the lead consultant I am battling to get my eye injection which I should get every 4 weeks . I am absolutely fed up with this . Again I’ve been told there is a waiting list and it might be 6/8 weeks before I get my injection, during which time my sight will deteriorate and I’m back to square one . All of this has left me feeling helpless and not valued .

Dear piscesgx34,

I am sorry to read about your difficulties getting an appointment in the Macular Service.

Unfortunately patients are having to wait longer than we would like for their injections due to the capacity issues within the service. We have plans in place to deal with these issues over the coming months with more staff recruited and additional space being made available to the service on the Fairview site.

I appreciate the stress this causes our patients and wish to reassure you that we are doing everything possible to get our patients treated in a timely manner.

Regards

Adam
