Negative comment first!
I attended the Emergency Dept in the afternoon and was triaged then had a consultation with a Doctor who ordered bloods which were taken around 4 hours later (early evening). I was then moved into the CDU after a couple of hours where I was told a Dr would speak to me once my bloods were back.
I waited there until 01:30am the following day when the bloods finally came and another test was done. Not once did a Dr speak to me but we could hear the whole conversations at the reception about all the other patients and me who were also waiting and it was from those that I heard about a further test that needed to be done! When this test came back clear I was told I could go even though a Dr hadn't seen me to explain the plan.
The CDU area is not confidential at all, conversations about patients take place at the desk. One conversation in particular that alarmed me was about a man who sadly died the day before, they were openly discussing what happened before he passed and how they had been involved. Surely a conversation like that should be happening behind closed doors?
Positive Comment:
Gee (HCA) in Emergency for "Employee of the Month"
He made sure everyone was looked after, has a positive, welcoming, polite & happy manner. He's a credit to the department, there needs to be more Gee's in the world.
