My 98 year old mother was brought by ambulance to the Royal Surrey A&E on 22 May 2025. She was transferred to the AMU later the same day where she stayed for 2 nights. Both departments were exceptionally busy but the staff were endlessly patient, taking the time to reassure my mother and explain to her exactly which tests she needed and how these would be undertaken. I observed their interactions with all the other other patients and families/carers were equally as professional and compassionate despite some patients having significant cognitive impairment and/or complex health conditions. Staff worked so well as a team, simultaneously assisting their colleagues whilst carrying out their own responsibilities to ensure patients were treated as quickly and effectively as possible. I would like to thank the staff in A&E and those in the AMU for their kind reassurance and the exceptional care and treatment my mother received.
"Compassionate care"
