"A formidable and incredible team"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Ward 3B

(as the patient),

I would like to thank and commend all of the amazing staff that I came into contact with during my just over three weeks admission to this unit.

All of the staff were incredibly driven, professional and committed to helping me and my fellow patients to get better as soon as possible. In my extremely modern and comfortable room, I was cared for so expertly and with such great empathy and sincerity. Most of all, you could tell that every single staff member loved their role and I marvelled at how happy they all were at all times without complaint and never without a smile on their faces.

I have to give special mention now to several people within an exceptional team effort - to Eymard, Emily, Chloe, Kayla, Edward, Jonathan, Abbey-Leigh, Mary, Emma and Ellie. Thank you for your wonderful care and professionalism. To Deputy Sisters Nicky and Katherine and to Freddy and Chris - thank you equally for your care, passion and dedication which inspires all around you. Unfortunately, there are other names that I cannot remember but my thanks go to everyone without fail within this nursing team.

To the Physiotherapist team - Stacey, Brooke, Winny, Victoria and

Caoimhe - thank you for your inspiration, encouragement, patience and excellence. You are an incredibly professional and top notch team.

To the Facilities Team - you make the best cups of teas and every day you cheered me up with good craic and chat - thank you and also for your hard work on behalf of all the patients.

Finally to Dr Hewitt and Dr Kabir. Thank you for your first rate attention and care for me when I was at my lowest and for helping me to get to where I am today in much improved health.

I have most definitely forgotten several names and for that I truly apologise, particularly those superb staff from the Critical Care unit - without exception, you are all stars, thank you!

It was the first time in my life that I had stayed in hospital for a prolonged period of time but this team of staff in Ward 3b made it as comfortable and as welcoming as possible and I cannot speak highly enough of each one of them. They are all a formidable and incredible team who truly underline the adage that we are so blessed to have the NHS and its amazing staff - thank you once again and very well done.

Update posted by JJWSalford7 (the patient)

Thank you, Amanda. It was good to tell you most of the above in person if you remember before I was discharged - you lead and clearly inspire an incredible team of people.

It was remiss of me to fail to mention a couple of people as well from my experience on the ward. Your pharmacist Anna was one of the first to speak to me when I entered the ward from ED. She was extremely reassuring and welcoming at a time when I wasn’t feeling my best and was actually quite confused and uncertain. Anna was one of a number of friendly faces who helped to put me at ease that morning and assured me that all was going to be ok. That was very kind. Before my discharge, Anna made sure that I was prescribed all that I needed to help make a full recovery so my thanks to her for helping me on my way.

Also staff nurses Emma and Ashleigh (both from Bangor I think) were excellent in their care and also chatted and had some banter with me which was good fun, even when not quite feeling my best. My thanks to them also. Once again, I know that I have forgotten some other good people on the ward - my apologies but again I stress that the whole team was always extraordinarily proficient and professional, without exception.

I am now six weeks home from the ward and feeling so much better. Without the staff on ward 3b, I am unsure what would have happened to me so my eternal thanks and best regards for the future to them all.
