"Kind staff but difficult to find department"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I went there to be assessed for my eyes which have cataracts, and I need to have surgery. The staff were kind and well mannered. I went to see three different teams in the department, and they were all very nice people.

The problem was finding where the eye department was on the hospital site-there was no signage whatsoever and we were running around in the wind and rain; I am in my 80s and I didn’t take this as a very good joke.

If I asked different people, they were very vague as to where the place was. It is tucked away behind the main hospital, and you wouldn’t know it was there.

We were going up steps on the outside and I was holding the handrail, and it almost came off in my hand.

Dear januaryyb66

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback for the Eye Unit.

I am sorry that you had difficulties finding the Cataract Assessment Centre at Falmouth Health Centre.

Signage to the Cataract department is currently being addressed and is under review and in time will help to improve this situation.

I will pass your feedback to the team

Many thanks

Catherine Miles
