"Appalling lack of care from my GP surgery"

About: General practices in Ayrshire & Arran

(as the patient),

I am quite ill now, it came on slowly but effectively I am housebound and often bed bound.

I have numerous health issues both physical and mental but around 4 months ago started getting quite violent diarrhea.  Being diabetic I wonder if it is linked but cant figure out if this is the case.  I also have sleep problems not helped by constantly having to go to the toilet.  I have a significant daily medical bill on tablets that I cant get the GP to prescribe.

To be honest I have no faith in my local GP surgery at all because you simply can not get help after about 0915 in the morning.  As with many surgeries they operate a triage system but as I said after 0915 you are stuffed - try again the next day !  (to get the same outcome?)

The NHS is not working for me.  This is the second time I have had to come on here this year and I am sick of this very poor practice in Kilmarnock.  They cannot manage a sensible system that allows urgent requests to be dealt with, often without seeing a clinician.  You can't e-mail them, you cant get through to them to help you.  It is a disgrace.

My recent request was for a drug that I have been prescribed before, but not for some years.  I was told to ring at 0830 in the morning - but you cant get through and I could e-mail them - but this isn't offered as an option.  What sort of care is this?

If you complain you can be blacklisted, so what am I meant to do?

Dear handsetfr93

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us via Care Opinion. I am very sorry to hear of the difficulties you have described with your GP Practice.

The Primary Care Team can liaise with your GP Practice to make them aware of your comments and feedback. To do this, please can you send an email to HSCPAdmin@east-ayrshire.gov.uk (marked for the attention of Primary Care) providing your details and the name of the GP Practice you are registered with. If you wish to remain anonymous, we can feed back your comments to the GP Practice for their awareness and learning.

I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. I am so very sorry it has not been positive.

Kind regards

Danielle
