"Soothing, caring and fountains of knowledge"

About: Maternity Care / Labour Ward Maternity Care / Postnatal (Ward 22)

(as the patient),

We had an excellent experience at Wishaw General for the birth of our first baby.

Our midwifery team Megan and Diane were a great support during the 12 hours we had with them, they were soothing, caring and fountains of knowledge, they kept me calm and reminded me how to breathe and were able to explain everything that was going to happen before we made any decisions moving forward with the delivery.

The aftercare team on ward 22 were also so kind, during difficult nights they helped soothe baby as well as me and took her away to let me sleep, they reassured me when it came to feeding her that we were doing great and checked up on us regularly during our stay.

Our birth didn’t go to plan and we had to have a C-section in the end but the decision was reached with the help of the amazing staff and the surgery itself was performed to a high standard. It was a very relaxed environment and everyone involved was lovely and professional. The rooms and theatre were spotless. We were well looked after and send a massive thanks so everyone who helped get our girl here safely.

Dear bonanzacj79,

Thank you for sharing your experience in Maternity at University Hospital Wishaw and congratulations on the birth of your baby girl.

I am delighted to hear that Megan and Diane maintained a calm environment for you and ensured you were fully informed before decisions needed to be made about the delivery. I am sorry that your birth didn't go to plan, but I am glad that the theatre team were equally as supportive and professional during your C-section.

I will ensure your kind words are passed on to the whole team who I am sure will get a real boost in hearing your feedback.

I hope you are recovering well and all settling into family life.

Best Wishes,

Jenni
