"Excellent care"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Day Surgery Unit Antrim Area Hospital / Hospital Social Work Dept Antrim Area Hospital / Ward C1 Gynaecology

(as a relative),

I would like to wholeheartedly commend Antrim Area Hospital for the exceptional care given to my mum during her recent stay, following surgery. From start to finish, every aspect of her care reflected the highest standards of professionalism, compassion, and human kindness.

A particular word of thanks must go to Dr. Dorman and his surgical team. Dr. Dorman’s expertise, clarity, and personal attention gave us deep reassurance throughout, and the success of the procedure is a testament to his skill and dedication.

After surgery, Mum was moved to the critical care ward where the nursing staff were simply outstanding. She was attended to with such diligence and frequency — every ten minutes without fail — that she even began to protest out of sheer humility! Their gentle persistence and vigilance were deeply moving to witness.

Once stable, she was transferred to Ward C1, the gynaecological ward, where the broader team continued her care with excellence. From the nursing to the auxiliary staff, the atmosphere was one of mutual respect, calm efficiency, and cheerful camaraderie. The staff clearly enjoy working together and it shows — their positive energy genuinely contributed to Mum’s recovery and peace of mind.

I also want to acknowledge the high standard of food and the spotless cleanliness of the ward, which made a real difference to comfort and morale.

Finally, the social work team went above and beyond in helping to ensure that Mum’s recovery would continue smoothly once discharged. Their dedication and follow-through were deeply appreciated.

All in all, we are left with hearts brimming with gratitude. Antrim Area Hospital often faces unfair criticism — largely due to the immense demands placed on it by a wide catchment area — but I can say without hesitation that its staff are truly extraordinary. We feel incredibly thankful.
