"A text message received"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Neurosurgery

(as a relative),

My Mother had a CT scan in STH on a Tuesday.  On the following Saturday she received a text message to say she had an urgent appointment with neurosurgery in the Belfast Trust.

This was understandably very upsetting and confusing.  The text message was sent on a Saturday over a bank holiday weekend so she could not contact anyone for further info. until today.

This form of 'communication is a disgraceful way to treat an elderly woman who is already very scared.

She deserves a telephone call with an apology and an explanation of what the CT result is and what is meant by the text message.

Good afternoon authenticsb95

I am very sorry that your mum has received this communication. This would not be our normal method of patient correspondence.

Would you be available to call me on 02896154226 and I can hopefully get some further details and investigate this for you please.

Many thanks

Una
