I had initially been seen in outpatients, told I had a cancerous lesion which I would be called within 2 weeks or earlier if cancellation this was end of January! A month passed I phoned central booking told scheduled end of March. End of March came no appointment. Phoned again told there was a backlog from September 2024! I felt I was only a number- no empathy as to my concerns & anxieties!
I phoned again few weeks later spoke with a receptionist on central booking called Dylan he was very helpful & could see my referral was urgent! I am pleased to say within 3 weeks I got my appointment through!
I recently had my procedure & the Specialist Nurse David who did my procedure was exceptional. Made me feel at ease from the moment I met him. He explained the whole procedure, throughout he talked about different things to distract me. At the end he discussed after care & when to expect results. That journey of care was very professional. His assistant Laura was lovely too!
I know the NHS is under pressure. We should be rewarding our Doctors & Nurses for the exceptional work they do under so much pressure. There are not enough of them! I believe they are overworked & underpaid for the responsibilities they are expected to carry!
