I had an assessment before being accepted on the course.

The course was twice weekly for 6 weeks, afternoons 1.30 - 3pm which was a class of 6 or 7 people at different stages of COPD. It starts with warming up exercises, taking oxygen levels and heart. Blood pressure readings also.

There are several exercises eg: cycle, steps, treadmill, light weights, bars(of the wooden kind πŸ˜‰) etc.

After the exercise session there is an education part where all parts of the lungs and breathing  are explained. You are issued with a folder with all kinds of info that you can go over again at home. All very well explained with diagrams and text. There are also speakers who attend eg: Asthma/COPD nurse, welfare rights etc

When i started the class I got breathless quite quickly with most activities.

That improved as time went on and my mobility improved with the exercises.

The staff are excellent

Thank you to Carrig and Alison 😊 the main staff who had to put up with us for the 6 weeks. We had a great wee group, good banter and all got on well.

If anyone is offered this class I would recommend you try it. 5 stars 🌟 to all concerned

Thank you for taking the time to share your story. I have forwarded it to Alison & Carrig who supported you through your Pulmonary Rehab journey. I am pleased that you enjoyed the programme and found it beneficial. It is great that you can really feel the improvement from the time and effort that you put into your exercise. We hope that the combination of exercise and education will continue to support you in your self-management of your condition. Keep up your exercises!

Many thanks
