"They were all polite and pleasant to deal with"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Cardiac Rehab The Ulster Hospital / Cardiology Hub The Ulster Hospital / Emergency Department The Ulster Hospital / Radiology

(as the patient),

So I had chest pains that gradually got worse during the day and evening. Eventually called the out of hours doctor who advised me to go to A&E.

Arrived there at 1.30am. I didn't leave until 4pm so it was a long, long wait but I cannot fault the staff or the service I received.

They were all polite and pleasant to deal with.

I had a thorough examination with a number of ECGs and bloods taken. Also had an x-ray taken. In the end I had a cardiologist come and speak to me to explain what they had or hadn't found.

It was reassuring to hear there were no signs of a heart attack and that my heart was in good order (that was worth the wait). In the end it seemed to be a muscular issue but I'm so thankful for the care and attention I was given.

Hi Robinlsc203

Thank you for providing feedback about your experience when attending the Ulster ED. It is good to hear you were thoroughly investigated and following your assessment you left reassured.

It is a busy department with the demand for our service well in excess of our capacity which unfortunately leads to much longer waits than we would like. I do hope you are doing well.

Kind Regards

Jenny
