"A true lifeline"

About: Adult mental health / Dunnottar Ward

(as a service user),

I lost my hearing suddenly in one ear and developed severe tinnitus and severe insomnia. The doctors couldn’t tell me if my hearing would return or if the tinnitus was permanent. I suddenly felt more and more overwhelmed over 3 weeks, and reached crisis point, hallucinating and needing sleep medications and an anti depressant. Unfortunately, despite sleep medications I began to feel more and more hopeless during the daytime, and became actively suicidal.

I voluntarily was admitted to The Dunottar ward for support.

The nurses, health care workers and doctors were very professional and kind. I felt supported in my recovery, to find my feet to cope with my situation and adapt.  Several of the staff showed genuine care and respect towards me, in big ways and small, and I felt like my experience was a true life line.

Dear pilingswh99

Thank you for taking the time to leave this positive feedback for the ward. We have passed this on to the nursing and medical staff. We are glad that you did have a good experience and that your recovery was supported.

Kind regards

Julia
