"A&E needs to have a look at their waiting area"

About: Whiston Hospital

I came into the A&E on Friday evening at 7pm. My dr sent me for an emergency mri. I went for bloods done at 9pm and was told to just sit and wait. I was in no pain at 7pm when I came in. Sitting in them uncomfortable chairs for 13 hours I was in extreme agony. I needed to stay for the mri as I have been so ill. I'm 62 years of age and incontinent now. But 13 hours was really taxing on my body. You need to get some comfortable chairs in there. I witnessed a lot of people in a lot of pain. Woman crying. Men trying to get comfortable on the floor. The staff I saw asked how much pain I was in. I told them I was a 9. Nothing was done. The staff I saw at 8.30 were great. I didn't have any problems with the staff at all. Them chairs need to be removed. The vulnerable and the sick need care. Starting with them horrible chairs

Hi Julie,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience in Whiston’s emergency department, particularly the chairs in the waiting area. We will forward this on to the relevant department, so that they can look into this further.

Kind Regards

Patient Experience and Inclusion Team
