I was told by my GP to head to A&E due to a raised D-Dimer blood test (a test that is often raised with blood clots).
I waited in A&E for about 2 hours before a nurse saw me and did an ECG. I was given a blood thinning injection in my tummy and told to come back to the SDEC (same day emergency care unit) at 9am the following day.
When I arrived that morning, the SDEC was immediately noticeably more calm and relaxed than A&E. I was treated amazingly. Offered food, drinks and care constantly, and the nurses, doctors and radiology technicians were so pleasant.
Luckily my CT came back clear, I had no blood clot, but the treatment is something that will stick with me forever.
Thank you to all staff on the SDEC team, for your support and consideration when I was very scared and anxious. I will never forget the kindness I was given by two specific ladies, Elise and Kym. Thank you all.
